Bruno S. Fang, MD


fang_pictureBruno S. Fang, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine, Brazil. He completed his residency at University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, FL, where he was voted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and later served as Chief Resident. He then completed his fellowship in Oncology at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Hematology at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, both at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. He served as Chief Fellow during his fellowship. While at the NCI, Dr. Fang developed an interest in cancers of the head, neck and breast. He studied the growth inhibitory and transcriptions regulatory functions of BRCA-1, a susceptibility gene for breast and ovarian cancer, in cell lines to shed light on its mechanism of action. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals in both hematology and oncology. He also co-authored the "Head and Neck Cancer" chapter in the first edition of the widely used "Bethesda Handbook of Clinical Oncology". Dr. Fang joined Central Jersey Oncology Center in 2000. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology.  Dr. Fang is currently on the teaching faculty at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is a member of the Lung Cancer Study Group at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and of the Saint Peter's University Cancer Committee.   Dr. Fang is fluent in the English, Portuguese and Spanish languages.
