George I. Karp, MD
George I. Karp, MD received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Columbia College and his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in NY. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine from the University of Chicago and then was a fellow in Hematology and Oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD and at Harvard Medical School’s Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Beth Israel Hospital. While an attending physician, he held a position as Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Instructor in Medicine at Harvard. Returning to his home state of NJ in 1984, he was appointed to the faculty of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In 1993, he joined the staff of Central Jersey Oncology Center. Dr. Karp is certified Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology. He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he has completed extensive research in coagulation disorders and cancer. He is on the Executive Committee of the School’s Institutional Review Board, where he has been a member for twenty years, overseeing clinical research both at the School and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He is also an Affiliate Member of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and has published extensively in the fields of both Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Karp has been included numerous times in lists of the Top Doctors in Hematology and Oncology in New York Magazine and other publications.
