Edward J. Licitra MD, PhD
Edward J. Licitra, MD, PhD received his PhD in Biochemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a National Cancer Institute Predoctoral Fellow. While at MIT, he developed and patented technologies, which are currently being utilized by the pharmaceutical industry to discover new medicinal agents and elucidate their mechanism of action. Following doctoral studies, he earned his MD degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Licitra was the recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School's Research Award and was designated as the Department of Internal Medicine's Outstanding Resident. He was also honored to be chosen as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He then completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, where he worked on the development of novel regimens for the treatment of patients with cancer. As an undergraduate at the College of the Holy Cross, he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. He has conducted extensive research in both basic science and clinical medicine and has published extensively in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Clinical Cancer Research and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Licitra is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. In 2006, he joined the staff of the Central Jersey Oncology Center. Prior to joining CJOC, Dr. Licitra was an attending physician at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
